Snowshoeing

Wander through snow-covered forests, spot wildlife tracks, and go where skiers can’t. Snowshoeing is a serene way to experience the winter landscape. It’s remarkably easy once you get the hang of it. As the saying goes, “If you can walk, you can snowshoe”.

Most BC ski resorts offer snowshoeing, and an evening tour might lead to a backcountry lodge fondue party or a marshmallow roast in the woods. Or, head out for a multi-day, hut-to-hut guided trek in one of BC’s wilderness parks.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Snowshoeing in BC is easy, safe and fun. A perfect way for families to explore the outdoors. Most resorts offer a variety of trails and guided snowshoe tours. Take a sunset tour, follow wildlife tracks on a snowshoe safari, or don a headlamp for a night adventure.

Near Vancouver, the North Shore Mountains combine outstanding views with an easy-to-reach, welcoming natural environment. Walk along well-maintained trails and enjoy the views of city, ocean, and mountains.

Provincial and national parks offer excellent snowshoeing opportunities. Strathcona Provincial Park near Mount Washington is a winter playground. Garibaldi Provincial Park offers superb backcountry trails and terrain, and an overnight hut for multi-day trips.
